Online Payment explained
Nowadays many website owners add online payment functionality to their services for many reasons:
- Allow site visitors to pay for services.
- A faster way to receive payment by service providers.
- An easy way for the buyers to get what they need online.
In this article I am not going to talk in the pros and cons of online payment, but I will try to transfer to you my knowledge about this technique as a web developer to others who would like to apply this service in their website.
What do you need to know first?
There are several things that you need to know before starting
Payment Gateway:
The payment gateway is the first thing that you should look for and decide what to use. The choice is up to you according to your needs and your business.
PayPal is a famous payment gateway that has a variety of methods and techniques to follow. Alert Pay is another payment gateway that you can use.
In some rare cases the services provided by such gateways are not enough and does not meet the requirements. In this situation it is recommended that you contact a bank that has such a service and provide you with the required information and API documentation to do. In that case you will do most of the work in your site.
The technique:
The way that you will use whether it is just a page that you will redirect your site to on the payment gateway or you are going to develop and write your own code to customize things according to the limitations provided by the payment gateway API.
If you choose the long way, it has to be needed and your requirements are not fully met by the short way. It is not a good thing to waste time developing many pages to do what can be done in other ways.
Merchant ID:
This unique number is what you get from the payment gateway to be sent in any request you make to the gateway to process a transaction. This ID identifies your account in the gateway.
This is not the whole thing. It was just a brief. I just tried to be as simple as possible. I will explain more in the upcoming posts.
Thanks.
